About Les

Les Phillips is a Professional Sports & Remedial Masseur who gained his qualifications at York & Selby Colleges over a decade ago. Practical training was achieved through working on players from Selby Rugby Club throughout his course, and upon qualifying he gained extra experience working with Skirlaugh Rugby Club on training nights & match days. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience, even though he had not been particularly interested in the sport leading up to this time.

Les first became interested in the muscular-skeletal body after suffering a pro-lapsed disc in his back from years of competitive cycling, work- related injuries & poor posture. Les takes a holistic approach to his treatments and likes to start with the clients feet and work upwards looking for a cause to correct and not just the symptom.

Les has been working in his own clinic in the East Riding of Yorkshire for the last 10 years with a good client base, but has now recently relocated to the Long Sutton area for family reasons but still takes a trip to Hull every 3 weeks and works out of a friends clinic treating old and new clients. Now that he and his wife have moved into their new premises, he has a dedicated massage room to work from but he also offers mobile massage treatments in the comfort of your own home (as long as you have the space for a six foot long massage table!).

Les continues to develop the therapies that he offers and always aims to provide the most appropriate treatment for his clients. Les now mainly runs with Three Counties Running Club, still enjoys the odd cycle ride and goes to the gym.

Treatments & Services

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a treatment to remedy aches, pains, tension, discomfort, poor mobility & stress to name a few, and is a more targeted treatment with better outcomes than a deep tissue massage. It may be chronic pain or acute pain. Many people suffer from work-related muscle pain sitting at a desk for long periods of the day or from manual work. Any sprains and strains can be treated as remedial massage to realign muscle tissue, with an aim to restore the body to a pain-free, balanced state. It uses such techniques as Soft Tissue Release (STR) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET). Sometimes remedial massage can be a little uncomfortable. Anyone suffering from chronic conditions, office or work-related muscle or joint pain that is prolonged and injuries or conditions for example fibromyalgia, arthritis, and lower back pain this form of massage is best suited for you.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage

Sports Massage Therapy (also known as Soft Tissue Therapy) is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments. It is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive or strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury. You do not need to be an elite athlete to benefit from Sports Massage. In addition to treating and preventing sports injuries, it can also help relieve the many everyday problems such as repetitive strain injury, sprains, tension and fatigue that everyone experiences. If a Sports Massage doesn't sound like what you are looking for, we also offer Deep Tissue Massage and Relaxation Massage for those wanting a lighter, less intense therapy.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a deeper pressure massage that provides relief from tight muscles, aches and pains. It will go deep into the muscle tissue, tendons and fascia providing a relieving therapeutic massage that is relaxing to the body and mind reducing stress and improving your wellbeing.

This treatment gives the muscles a much-needed massage that helps free the tissues from stiffness and pain and any discomfort. The massage will be a combination of deep strokes using forearms application, friction and acupressure if you like a deeper massage than a general massage this is an effective treatment.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massages can have many benefits. With our daily lives becoming more hectic we forget to take time out for ourselves to ‘de-stress’. Stress is known to have many side effects to our own health and well being as well as the ones around us.

We can help improve your sleep patterns, energy levels, posture and any aches and pains with regular relaxing massages.

Why not treat a loved one with a gift voucher for a relaxing massage.

Testimonials

I have been seeing Les for several months now and can highly recommend him.

Friendly, helpful and most importantly effective massage treatment, keeping on top of aches and pains from work and sport played in my free time.

Mark Hill, Hull

I have been seeing Les since 2015 to get some treatment for my arms and legs due to tennis’s abuses!  I had been around from pillar to post to get sorted until I saw Les. He sorted me out right at the very first go, no frills, only a little pain & he has been repairing me ever since … poor thing to have client like me who cannot stop playing tennis!

Any required treatment for aches, pains & discomforts through repeatedly overused muscles, try him first before you go round the loops like myself. Thank you Les … I am still going strong.

Tor, Hull

Les is really good, dedicates all his time and more to sort out your problems, highly recommended.
